Today we drove through the upper part of Yellowstone. We were here 2 years ago, almost to the day on our 1996 Cross Country Trip with Don & Anne Guido. This time we don't plan to spend a lot of time in the park - we just want to see the upper section that we missed on the last trip. Of course, we did stop for some photographs!

We left the park on US 212 which weaves back & forth between Wyoming & Montana before becomming the Beartooth Highway. The Beartooth Highway between Yellowstone & Red Lodge, MT is considered by many as the most beautiful road in the country. I'll put the Going to the Sun road up against it anytime, but it is a very scenic drive. I wouldn't want to be towing a heavy trailer or driving a large RV, but in the van it was a comfortable & beautiful drive.

After reaching Red Lodge, we turned around & headed back to see the view from the other direction, than took the Chief Joseph Highway (WY 296). This is another beautiful drive and it is well worth the extra time to see both. We stopped for the night at the Coty, WY KOA Campground, Site 125.
