Day 23, Monday, November 10, 2025 - South Toledo Bend State Park, Anacoco, LA, Day 2 - 0 Miles, 1,761.6 Miles for the Trip
Not as cold overnight as predicted, but down to 43°F. It didn't do all that much warming up during the day. 44°F for my morning walk around the campground loop, and 51°F by 12:30.
I spent most of the day sitting in the trailer and reading. I miss the 70+ temperatures of last week where sitting outside was comfortable. While the sun is strong and the day cloudless, 50°F is too cool to sit, although not bad for walking around. Current book is The Road to Roswell, a comic SiFi by Connie Willis.
I started to put together a route & stops for a trip from the Spring Fling rally in New Hampshire to the EggFest rally in Ontario, Canada but have had little luck getting anyone on the phone. I wonder if this Monday is considered part of Memorial Day so it can be a long weekend. Canada celebrates Remembrance Day rather than Memorial Day, but it is November 11th (the end of WWI) in both countries. In any case, I'll keep trying.
Looks like 54°F is the high for today with 34°F predicted for tonight & 65°F as tomorrow's high. I'm leaving on Wednesday when it is going to be back in the mid 70's.
I decided to tackle a minor problem that has been bothering me. My inexpensive ceramic heater (under $20.00 at Walmart a few years back) has been slowly dropping the running current on high. I've discovered that as the pores in ceramic heaters clog with dust the output goes down. Cleaning the clogged pores fixes the problem. Not as easy a fix with the Walmart heater as it is with my old stand by Pelonis Cube Heater (I still have 2, both made in 1986) but the Walmart heater is a bit quieter so I'd rather use it. A little element brushing, vacuuming, and difficult reassembly (the anti tip micro switch supports are silly) and it is good to go. I have to admit at the hourly rate I used to charge as an electrician, for the half hour it took it would have been cheaper to buy a new one, but it was a challenge. Who says I'm cheap!
Dinner was a lean Cuisine Herb Roasted Chicken meal.
Until Tomorrow -
