Thursday, February 8, 2024 - Dome Rock, Quartzsite, AZ, Day 8 - 0 Miles, 3,452.3 Miles for the trip

Light rain this morning from around 6:00 to 9:00, so the swap meet was held off until 10:00. While the sun came out, the wind didn't die, and folks had problems keeping light stuff on their tables. I managed to get rid of some free stuff (including an old Mac 12V power supply) as well as sold a weather station that I wasn't able to hang on a wall.

The Swap Meet

After breakfast I was down to 80% on the batteries, now at noon, back to 88% Partly cloudy, so I may not get back to 100%, but right now there is a peak of 262 watts coming from the panels, and 15.75 amps going into the batteries. During the afternoon I hit a peak of 319 watts (not bad for 320 watts worth of panels) and 20 amps going into the batteries, although 4 minutes later is was down to 42 watts. 98% full at 2:00. The cool temperatures, and the wind blowing away any solar heating make the panels more efficient.

I went out around noon for a picture taking walk, but only a few brave souls were out. While the sun is shining around the clouds, the temperature is only 54°F, and the wind is not letting up. By 2:30 it is still only 55°F.

Out and About at Noon

The Clam is Still Up

Lots of trailers on the move. I don't know whether they are leaving or just heading to town to dump. I know some folks are discouraged by the rain, wind and cool temperatures, but that's Quartzsite!

Dinner was an invitation to join Greg for a trip to the Mountain Quail restaurant. Greg was the organizer of the Quartzsite rally for years before he decided to take a break and let it become a unorganized gathering. While still considered a "Gathering" rather than a rally, Gene from the Casita Travel Trailer Forum picked things up and is as close to an organizer as the gathering has.

Dinner was deep fried cod & a baked potato.

Until Tomorrow -
