While staying at the City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico, I decided to repeat a trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellers National Monument. By the way, believe the sign in Silver City that states it will take 2 hours to get there even though it is only 44 miles away. NM 15 is a beautiful road, although not for those bothered by narrow roads without center lines, lots of hills, switchbacks and drop offs.

The last time I made the trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellers National Monument I took 15A. While alternate 15 is even narrower, but even more beautiful, I stuck to 15 this time, at least on the way. For those bothered by the narrow road with drop offs & lots of switchbacks, taking US180 out of Deming then, rather than continuing to Silver City, take NM 61 to NM 35 back to NM 15 bypasses most of the twists and drop offs of NM 15.
