Friday, April 29 - Cape Disappointment State Park, WA - 194.7 miles, 3615.1 for the trip

I woke up early enough to get some good photos of the "Golden Hours," what photographers call the hour after sunrise & the hour before sunset. Beautiful light coming through the trees & over the hills around the park. It was cold - 31 degrees until 9:00AM. I got the first part of my 2 mile walk in going around the campground. Two more brave souls stayed last night. After that I headed south on US 101. I did see this strange bright yellow flower along the Hoh road, so I stopped & took a photo. If you recognise it, let me know. OK, OK! I now know it is Skunk Cabbage. I've seen the plant many times, but never in bloom.

Gas mileage increased a bit - I'm now at 13.8. I decided to stop for the night at Cape Disappointment State Park. I wanted to photograph the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse & it is as impressive as I've been told. I don't think I'm going to get a chance for the evening "Golden Hour" since it is raining, but I'll try.

None of this is going to get posted tonight - I only have a cell connection & it is around 44K, slower than dial up. I can't even post to some of the forums I read. Oh well, I've had great connections so far, so one lousy night isn't so bad.

The climb to the lighthouse too care of the rest of my "walk" today & it was uphill both ways! I finally got the chance to unhook the RAV4 from the trailer. Actually, I have been lucky enough to have pull through sites up until today and had everything I needed when I got to the site, so there was no reason to unhook. Today I wanted to drive to the lighthouses so it was time. Everything went smoothly, now all I have to do is back the RAV4 up to the trailer. Since the hitch weight is around 300 lbs, I can't jockey the tongue around like I could with the utility trailer - I have to put the ball in the trailer hitch. I did find that the rear door does clear the hitch. Not when the trailer is connected, but I can open the door fully when unhitched. Some RAV4 owners found the hitch ball got in the way.

Made my first fully home cooked meal tonight - Spaghetti & Sausage. I've been eating sandwiches, soup, etc up to now, but decided it was time. Only problem is doing dishes in a 12" X 8" sink!

Well, time to finish this post up. I won't be able to post until I get a good connection... Till then!
