It was a short drive to get to our stop at Dickeyville. The Dickeyville Grotto is an unusual place that you have to see to believe. An incredible amount of work went into putting together these stone & glass buildings. The Roadside America link I listed above tells the story far better than I can, but here are a couple of photographs:

After leaving the grotto we reached the Mississippi & followed it north until we picked up 212, the road we decided to take for much of our trip west. We stopped for the night at the Budget Host Inn, Room 108 in Shakopee, MN. Not sure why it is called budget at $79.95 + taxes but it was a break from setting up the tent.
